Most people agree that surfing is a cool sport, but imagine surfing at night! That’s what this group of surfers did to welcome the beggining of summer to Australia.

“Surfboards with neon wire inlay and wet suits with neon tubes that glow in the dark. These are the requirements for a night of surfing at Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia.

A group of 17 surfers braved the dark and took to the waves to celebrate the beginning of summer in Australia, which officially begins on December 1. Victoria Lanarch came after a call from a friend.

– Just some friends gave me a call and said, hey, come on down, check it out and, why not, it’s summer.

Catching a wave at night can be a challenge, because in the dark it’s not always possible to know when a wave is approaching. But that’s part of the fun.

– You can’t see at night. You just feel it. And then when you’re on it you can just see all the lights and see the face of the wave.

The neon surfing event is part of the “Welcome to Summer” activities in Sydney.”
