Recipe

You will need:

– apples
– caramels
– milk

  1. Remove the stem from each apple and press a craft stick into the top. Butter a baking sheet.
  2. Place caramels and milk in a microwave safe bowl, and microwave 2 minutes, stirring once. Allow to cool briefly.
  3. Roll each apple quickly in caramel sauce until well coated. Place on prepared sheet to set.
  4. Refrigerate the apples for about 15 minutes.

Vocabulary

Stem – the long, thin part of a fruit, leaf, flower, etc., that connects it to its plant.

Craft stick – inexpensive wood pieces can be bought at a craft store. a craft is an activity that involves making something in a skillful way by using your hands.

Baking sheet – a flat piece of metal used for baking things (such as cookies and biscuits) in an oven.

Stirring – to mix (something) by making circular movements in it with a spoon or similar object.

Briefly – for a short period of time.

Roll – to move or lean from side to side.

Coated – to cover (something or someone) with a thin layer of something.

Set – to become thick or hard.

Refrigerate – to put or keep (something, such as food) in a refrigerator in order to make it cold or keep it fresh.
