Australian Idioms – Better than a poke in the eye with a burnt stick

Idiom – Better than a poke in the eye with a burnt stick.

Meaning – Better than nothing.

Alternative – This expression is only used in Australia (that we know of!), but if you’re not in Australia and want to use this idiom, you could also say “half a loaf of bread is better than none”.
