How to Prepare the Perfect Cup of Tea

Hello! How are you? (tell us in the comment section!)

British people love a good cup of tea, so why not learn how to prepare a mug and then you can enjoy all the different types of tea while you study English?

Also, they say a good cup of tea warms the cockles of the heart.

It’s most popular to drink English Breakfast tea. It’s a traditional blend of teas originating from Assam, Ceylon and Kenya. In Britain, it’s simply called Breakfast Tea and was made popular by Queen Victoria. But although it’s called “English”, it’s technically not: the leaves usually come from Indian or African regions.

1. Boil the water

Make sure the water tastes good, why? If you don’t drink tap water at home, then don’t use it for your tea, it won’t taste as nice.

2. Heat the teapot

Pour a little of the boiling water into the teapot to heat it up. This way, when you pour the rest of the water in, it won’t lose temperature. Then you can enjoy your hot tea for longer!

3. Add the tea

Add the tea bags or the tea in a strainer  to the teapot. The amount of tea you use will depend on the strength of the tea and your personal taste.

4. Add the water

Add the hot water into the teapot onto the tea.

5. Steep

Leave the tea steep. Different teas require different steeping times. If you’re using tea bags, it should specify on the box; it should be flavourful but not bitter!
