Hello everyone! How are you?
I recently found this video that I want to share with you today. I want to share it with you because you may have children and therefore may find it very useful. I can still remember how difficult it was to get my children to do their homework…
But also, even if you do not have children, you are an English learner and you will find it very interesting, useful and motivating to know which your academic pace is.
Let’s revise some vocabulary before watching de video to help your understanding.
Drag – Something that retards motion, such as an anchor.
Burned out – Exhausted.
Snack – Food eaten between meals.
Re-charge – To revive or renew one’s energy.
Routine – A set of customary activities.
Homework mode – Ready to do homework.
Academic pace – The rate of speed in which people study and learn.
Rewards – Something given as recognition for something well done.
Bribe – Something, like money, given to influence or persuade someone.
What kind of learner are you? Are you a sprinter or a long distance runner?
– If you can study for several hours, do a lot of work and only study once or twice a week, you are a sprinter.
– If you can study for short periods of time but you study more than three or four times a week, then you a long distance runner.
It does not matter whether you apply this for your children or for yourself. The most important thing is that you need to be aware of what your pace is and be fair with yourself by establishing a studying routine that suits your academic pace.
Find out what do you need to re-charge after work to get into the learning English mode… and go for it!
Take care and keep practicing your English!

Hi there, How are you?
Well, the truth, I don’t have one only way to study, or one only pace. It depends more on my mood or my avaliable time. Sometimes I’m full of energy and I spend all day studying, sometimes I don’t feel like doing it too much and I just do it for a couple of hours, so, we could say that I’m a two gears student, but, there is something I always do, I stop every 2 or 3 hours and I prepare a cup of tea or coffee, and I walk a little, and when I’ve finished, I always go to run a while. Running helps me clearing mi mind and reinforces what I’ve studied.
Best regards.
Thanks for sharing Angel! The important thing is to find a pace that works for each person.
Great objective Manfred! I think it’s the best way to study too: long distance running. Constant, hard work over a long period of time :). We are very happy you liked it!
The theme of the video looks very interesting. Many beginning students like me, we can not continue the dialogue, they speak very fast! Someday I hope to get to talk that fast!
I am a long distance runner!!
Hello Yolanda! It is quite fast; we will upload videos with slower dialogue so that everyone can understand.
Keep up the good work!
Hello Yolanda (Calvo)! They do speak fast. We will be uploading simpler videos now so that the dialogue is not as fast.
We tried to find the Spanish translation but it was not available. We will translate it from ABA but maybe for next week? Thanks for your patience!
Good afternoon ABA!
Thanks for this article, is more interesting.
I think I passed as a Angel.
I am sprinter and distance runner at the same time.
Also I think the same that Yolanda: “They speak so fast! I think is a interesting video but I don’t understand it all very well. Where can we find the Spanish translation for the begginers learners?”.
Regards,
Belinda
