Tena yistilign!
(that’s the formal way to say “Hello” in Ethiopian).
It’s time for some music!
Do you know Kenna? He is an Ethiopian-American musician and philanthropist. A philanthropist is a wealthy person who gives money and time to help make life better for other people.
His music is quite a special mix and has been described to have elements of electronica, synthpop, post-rock, and house music. We’d love to know… what’s YOUR favourite music genre?
OK, you know what to do:
1. Read the lyrics
2. Understand the vocabulary
3. SING!
Lyrics
I need the free time,
I need to get away…
I need the free time,
To get away from you.
I need some me time,
I need the me time,
I need to run away, run away,
Run away, run away tonight…
Yeah…
Ohh, Ohh, Ohh, Ohhhh…
I need the free time,
I need to get away,
I need the night car,
And ride ride to oblivion.
I need me time,
I need the me time,
I need to run away, run away,
Far away, far away, tonight…
Unlike the sun that shines through a crimson sky,
I have built these walls so you can’t get by,
And its alright, tonight, tonight, its alright.
Run run run to your place till you’re gone,
Where do you go to be free?
Run run run to your place till you’re gone,
Where do you go to be free?
Run run run to your place till you’re gone,
Where do you go to be free?
Run run run to your place till you’re gone,
Where do you go to be free?
Yeah…
Ohh, Ohh, Ohh, Ohhhh
Unlike the sun that shines through a crimson sky,
I have built these walls so you can’t get by,
But its alright, tonight, tonight, its alright.
Its alright,
Tonight,
Tonight,
Its alright,
Its alright,
Tonight,
Tonight,
Its alright.
