Intermediate Grammar – “To Have” in Affirmative

Welcome to today’s grammar class. There are two ways of using the verb “To Have”, depending on whether you are using American English or British English.

American English

I have
You have
He has
She has
We have
You have
They have

British English

I have got
You have got
He has got
She has got
We have got
You have got
They have got

Examples:

I have two brothers and three sisters”

I’ve got two brothers and three sisters”

So this example shows the two ways to explain possession. It is important that you know them both. Of course, using just “to have” is easier!
