Inspiration from the Czech Republic

Hi!

Today we found a great quote from the Czech Republic: “Those who know many languages live as many lives as the languages they know”.

When we learn a new language, we also learn about its culture, its history and its people.

That’s a beautiful thing, right?

  1. I think it’s an interesting quote and I agree on its inner meaning…. because if we learn a foreign language as a mere way of communication we only study words, verbs and other parts of a lexical reality…but if we make a breakthrough and know other people, different traditions, culture and history of a Country, then we feel like going deep into their lives: that’s why the Czech Proverb is truthful and noteworthy. All of us (students) should keep in mind this quote and try to reach the golden secret….

  2. As a fellow teacher I completely agree Jane. You also figure out how the student is learning and adapt your teaching methods accordingly. I find it fascinating to observe how each culture has a different approach to learning, or what aspects they find easier/harder.
