Blue – to feel sad.

Today we are going to learn some colour-related idioms!

Purple

Purple prose – writing that is more complicated and formal than necessary.

Born to the purple – Someone who is born to the purple is born in a royal or aristocratic family.

Pink

Pink slip – An informal or slang term referring to a notice of dismissal given to an employee. A pink slip is an official notification that a worker’s position has been eliminated or that the worker’s services are no longer needed. In other words, a pink slip is a termination notice.

Pink-collar workers –  performs work said to be stereotypical women’s work.

Pinkie – the little finger.

Tickled pink – very amused or entertained.
