Meaning – To postpone making a decision until you have seen how things are developing.
Alternative – There are two other ways of expresing this idiom: if we are not sure about what decision to take, we could say we are “in two minds” or that we are “weighing the pro’s and con’s”.

But why does it refer to a cat? Is it a lion. Like you run if it attacks you and walk away slowly if it goes after someone or something else. Or are you tracking something and getting info from a cat jumping in a certain direction? Maybe something else. I just want to know what caused those words to make the idiom.
