Hello people!
Learning English, especially at the beginning, can be very hard. It’s a new language, you have to learn new words, understand how sentences are put together, memorize verbs and understand the culture with it’s unique expressions and idioms.
It’s also a beautiful moment: only when we work to overcome obstacles do we truly learn.
So today, from all the ABA Team, we want to remind you that:
So many people begin studying English and give up because they think that they will never be perfect. But you know what? That doesn’t matter because nobody is perfect. When you feel like giving up, remember why learning English is so great:
Logical Reasons
- English is the most spoken language around the world.
- It’s so satisfying to watch or read in the original language, whatever the language is.
- Speaking English is a tremendous asset for your professional career!
- You will have access to thousands more websites, books and resources by learning English. Whether you’re passionate about motorbikes, skating, dolls or cooking, there is usually more information in English.
Fun Reasons
- The more you learn the better the brain gets at learning, so it will become easier and easier. And that’s just cool.
- Sleep better. When your body and mind are “working out” they give you better rest.
- It keeps your mind active, which helps you stay younger and feel younger.
- It makes you more interesting.
- Which will get you more interesting friends.
- It helps make you more creative.
- For the pleasure! Learning a language, especially English, is rewarding when you see you’re improving!
Now, we want to know what makes you want to study English!
ABA Team, your analysis is absolutely correct in each point.. I’ll try to answer your serious question. When I was a student , French was my foreign language: I was clever and with excellent scores. Spanish was lovely too, especially because of all the Iglesias songs (I still love Enrique’s songs, Sergio Dalmas ecc.). English became necessary only when I had to work with multinational (US) companies…I hated it, because I always felt frustrated in every meeting or converstation. I studied with Shenker,Wall Street,International House,Private Teachers, IELTS: always good results at school, but what a disaster with my American colleagues! You can’t imagine how many times I thought of giving up (maybe once a week), but it was like giving up on swimming in the middle of a river without any help..my teachers used to encourage me with the Irish motto “learn English or die”.So I had to resist.. In RE/MAX the situation has been the same: everything in English and my job needs English too in international transaction..I still hate it, but far less than before eh eh eh. I’ve subscribed to Shared Talk, where I can talk in English/Italian with American students interested in learning my language: my consolation is to see that they all are more in trouble than me and so we help each other. That’s why I had to (not liked) study English….and now that I’m 64 I still tell myself “learn English or die!” every day.
Thanks Abdullah!
