Hi!
How are you this beautiful Wednesday morning?
Today, we would like to talk to you about keeping your mind engaged. What does this mean? To be engaged means to be busy with some activity, an activity that keeps us stimulated and always learning.
“Often this means creating a routine for breaking from your routine, working on exploratory side projects just for the hell of it or finding new ways to hotwire your brain’s perspective on a problem. It also means learning how to put your inner critic on mute, banish perfectionist tendencies, and push through anxiety-inducing creative blocks.
To stay creatively fit, we must keep our minds engaged and on the move – because the greatest enemy of creativity is nothing more than standing still”
Vocabulary
Routine – a regular way of doing things in a particular order.
Hotwire – to start (a car or the engine of a car) by connecting wires in the electrical system without using a key. This is used metaphorically in this text.
Inner critic on mute – meaning, that part of your brain which is always criticizing and saying you can’t do things? Turn the volume down, don’t listen. Because you are doing great!
Banish – to send (someone or something) away.
So remember: to move forwards in your learning, you must keep your brain interested with new challenges.
