¡Hola!

Se acercan las Navidades y es muy probable que ya hayas escuchado las canciones típicas de esta época. Hay una de ellas, relativamente reciente (de 1984), que seguramente habrás escuchado alguna vez. Se trata de una canción grabada por diversos artistas del mundo de la música para recaudar fondos contra la hambruna que azotaba Etiopía en aquel año. ¿No es una idea bonita?

¿Y qué te parecería aprender la letra para poder cantarla cuando la pongan en la TV y dejar impresionados a tus parientes y amigos?

Vocabulario

afraid: asustado, temeroso.

to let in: dejar pasar

to banish: desterrar, expulsar

shade: sombra, oscuridad

plenty: abundancia

to spread: repartir

joy: alegría

prayer: oración

bitter: amargo

sting: punzada, escozor

clanging: del verbo “to clang”, que significa hacer un ruido metálico fuerte, como las campanas al sonar.

chime: campanada

doom: muerte, destino fatal

here’s to: expresión utilizada para brindar. “Here’s to you” = A tu salud, va por ti.

to raise a glass: brindar con una copa con algún tipo de bebida

underneath: bajo, debajo de

to feed: alimentar
